Melanie Bachman serves as the Executive Director of the Connecticut Siting Council, a position she has held since 2013.  The Council is responsible for the siting of, among other things, telecommunications facilities, public utility facilities, and independent power generation facilities.  The Council is also responsible for the planning and forecasting of electricity demand for the state of Connecticut.

Prior to serving as the Siting Council’s Executive Director, Ms. Bachman was the Staff Attorney for the Siting Council, a position she was appointed to in 2008.  Prior to her work with the Siting Council, Ms. Bachman worked as an attorney in the areas of real estate and land use.  Ms. Bachman has a BS in Management Systems from Fordham University and a JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
