#NSCW2023 is being held in Worcester, the 2nd largest city in Massachusetts.
Because of its central location, Worcester is known as the “Heart of the Commonwealth.” While it is a busy city, it has a reputation for friendliness. There’s plenty to do in this city; if you get bored, you can always take a quick trip to Boston.
In case you find yourself with some extra time, here are some highlights we would like to mention:
- The Worcester Art Museum – More than 35,000 pieces of art are housed in this museum, some of which date from antiquity! Some favorites of museum-goers are the Paul Revere silver collection and the armor gallery. There is also a stunning mosaic display situated on the Renaissance Court floor.
- The Hanover Theater and Conservatory for Performing Arts
- Mechanics Hall – Built in 1857 by the Mechanics Association to help their members develop manufacturing skills and learn about milling machinery running, Mechanics Hall was revived in 1977. Today it is a concert and performing arts venue ranked as one of North America’s top four concert halls!
- American Antiquarian Society – If you love history and printed materials, you will enjoy a visit here. There are over three million books, newspapers, manuscripts, periodicals and graphic arts materials, including books published before 1820.
- Crompton Collective – If shopping is your thing, you won’t want to miss taking a stroll through this boutique market.
- Massachusetts Vietnam Veteran Memorial – This honors not only the Massachusetts residents who had given their lives in Vietnam but also all the Commonwealth members who had served their country between 1955 and 1975. There is also a special section that honors military dogs
- Wormtown Brewery – Great beer… need we say more?
