Maria Chrysochoou is a Professor and Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Chrysochoou’s general research area is environmental geochemistry, with a focus on site remediation, characterization and reuse of industrial waste and construction materials. Dr. Chrysochoou serves as the Director of the Connecticut Brownfields Initiative, an interdisciplinary training program for UCONN students to work with the state, Connecticut towns and industry towards brownfield redevelopment, as well as the Principal Investigator of the EPA Region 1 Technical Assistance for Brownfields Program, starting In October 2021.
